Good Samaritan Medical Center Foundation (GSMCF) is driven by the passion that “the collective generosity of the community can change a life.” The GSMC Foundation was incorporated April 2004 as a 501 (c)(3) organization.
A female patient was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. At the time she was working full-time and had just purchased her first home. She had large deductibles and out-of-pocket medical expenses and was trying to figure out how she would pay them along with her monthly bills. The patient and her father met with the Cancer Center Financial Counselor to discuss grants and co-pay assistance. Based on need, her application to the Cancer Care Assistance Program was submitted and approved. The Cancer Care Assistance Program (within the Community Health and Wellness Fund) paid a $2,800 hospital bill for the patient. When she and her father were given the news, they both started crying. Her father hugged the financial counselor and they both couldn’t stop saying thank you. The GSMC Foundation was about to change a life through the giving of people like you — People Helping People!
In this time of changing healthcare environment, technology advances, competition for talented health care professionals, medical advances and burgeoning community needs, the role of the GSMC Foundation is critical to our success. The fundraising efforts of the GSMC Foundation for Good Samaritan Medical Center can provide for the health and healing needs of underinsured and uninsured patients and families. Please consider being part of the tradition at GSMC by giving a financial gift to the GSMC Foundation.
